April 24th Day 1 part 2

After my short nap i woke up a little confused on the time.  I realized I could still make it to Louisiana Music Factory to catch a couple of in store performances.
 Louisiana Music Factory

Got there in time to see the end of the New Orleans Suspects set.  This guys rocked the place.

Then was treated to the Legendary Little Freddie King.

LMF is the place to go for Louisiana related music.  They also have an incredible collection of rare and hard to find vinyl as well  check them out by clicking the link on the logo above.

Next adventure was to The Maple Leaf out by Tulane.

Went for a show featuring Jon Cleery and the Phantom Blues Band. These guys are back up players for Taj Mahal and rumors floated around he might show up or Bonnie Raitt might show up.  Had to go just for that.

Show started at 9:00  I arrived around 8:30 and scoped the place. Found a nice spot to see the stage.  They were having a crawfish boil as well.  I still haven't gotten the hang of eating them.. But here is a little musical lesson from the Radiators on how to do it.

At 9 the band hit the stage.

I lasted until about 10PM and 3 beers. I had been up for about 20 hours with a short nap and it was time to head back to the hotel.

Thursday was gonna be a long day.

April 24th first day in New Orleans

Well the wake up call came at 3AM. OMG. Showered and dressed and headed off to the terminal.  Checked bag and headed up to TSA.  This is first time I have flown since TSA began.  All new experience.

Flights were uneventful.  I had 30 minute layover DC. Just barely found the gate.  Was one of the last people on the flight.  Think i might have dozed a little on this flight.

OMG Louis Armstrong Airport is HUGE.  Took some searching to find where to pick up my checked bag.

Wasn't able to get UBER app working so took a cab into the city.  Got to the hotel shortly after 11AM local time. The room wasn't ready checked in with reservations and they stored my luggage for me.

Needed to charge my phone.  My friend Frank was meeting me at Noon.

Frank appeared at noon and we went off to Dooky Chase for the lunch buffet.  I had been talking about this for sometime.  Leah Chase is an institution in New Orleans.  She is 96 and still comes to the restaurant almost every day.

Once we arrived, checked in.  Short wait maybe 30 min not sure.  Once we got seated and the server came, we decided on the buffet and chicken noodle soup and the dessert was peach cobbler.

Main plate is fried chicken, homemade hot sausge, red beans and rice, corn, smoothed potato, and cabbage.

Chicken noodle soup.

The out of this world peach cobbler.

After Lunch we went for a walk in the French Quarter. First stop the street that is outside the NCIS New Orleans office.

We walked what seemed to be blocks, but was only like 3 maybe 4 to Jackson Square.

Next Stop was Cafe du Monde for beignets and coffee.

After Cafe du Monde we went for a short walk  and saw this building. I couldn't get a good pic so searched google images for it.

At this point went back to hotel and got a short nap.
